f <br /> ' 15 October 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 97-0333 <br /> ' Page 2of8 , <br /> ' 2 1 GROUND WATER PUMP-AND-TREAT OPERATION <br /> On-site extraction well EW-1 was adjusted at the well'-head to continuously extract ground water <br /> during the second quarter 2002 at a flow rate of approximately 4 GPM, the extracted ground water <br /> was routed through a ground water treatment system consisting of granular activated carbon(GAC) <br /> and Sunsolve® Following treatment,water was discharged underground via 2-Inch diameter PVC <br /> ' piping to the City of Manteca sewer system, discharge piping is connected to a sewer manhole <br /> located approximately 25 feet south of the pump-and-treat system <br /> ' Based on effluent flow meter readings (Table 1), approximately 123,453 gallons of treated water <br /> were extracted and discharged to the City of Manteca sewer system during April,May and June 2002 <br /> under City of Manteca Public Works Department (CMPWD) Industrial Wastewater Discharge <br /> ' Permit No 02-1 <br /> ' 2 2 GROUND WATER PUMP-AND-TREAT SAMPLING PROCEDURES <br /> Ground water pump-and-treat influent and effluent water samples were collected from valved ports <br /> located upstream(Influent)and downstream(effluent)of the treatment unit The grab water samples <br /> were collected utilizing I-liter amber bottles and 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml, <br /> 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative Care was taken to ensure that visible air bubbles <br /> I ' were not present in the vials after filling and capping Ground water sample containers were labeled <br /> with a sample designation, date, time, and,sampler's initials <br /> 23 LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER PUMP-AND-TREAT SAMPLES <br /> Influent and effluent grab water samples were logged on a chain-of-custody form,placed In a chilled <br /> container,and transported to a California Department of Health Services(DHS)-certified labbratory <br /> for analysis for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d, <br /> ' respectively)by EPA Methods 35501503018015 Modified, , <br /> •t Benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene and xylene(BTEX)and methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) <br /> ' by EPA Method 8020, <br /> • Tetrachloroethene(PCE), trichloroethene(TCE),tertiary butanol(TBA), di-isopropyl ether <br /> (DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether(ETBE), tert amyl. methyl ether (TAME) and MTBE by EPA <br /> Method 8260 Modified, and E <br /> Total lead (quarterly sampling frequency) by EPA Method 6010/200 7 <br /> i <br /> Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc <br /> i <br />
