r Evaluation of Contamination January 3, 1989
Former Texaco Service station, Manteca, California AGS 38053-1
water interface in each well. The bailer was retrieved, and the
water sample was examined for floating product, sheen, or other
subjective evidence of hydrocarbon contamination. No subjective
evidence was noted in the samples from the monitoring wells.
After the subjective analyses, the monitoring wells were
developed using a 2-inch surge block.
On October 27, 1988, following subjective analyses, and
approximately 24 hours after development, approximately five well
volumes of ground water were purged from each monitoring well.
After each well had recovered to 80 percent of static conditions,
ground-water samples were collected from the monitoring wells by
lowering a Teflon bailer, cleaned with Alconox, approximately 3
feet past the air-water interface. The bailer was then recovered
Y' and the sample slowly transferred to laboratory-cleaned, 40-
milliliter glass vials. Concentrated hydrochloric acid was added
to each sample as a preservative. The sample containers were
labeled and immediately placed in iced storage. Chain of Custody
Records were initiated by the field geologist and accompanied the
samples to .the analytical laboratories. Copies of those records
are included in the Appendix to this report.
1Z
