SAN J O A N N Environmental Health Department
AMENDED
7/27/2020
Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Inspection Report
Facility Name: Facility Address: Date:
AutoZone#6217 941 W March Ln, Stockton July 16, 2020
SUMMARY OF VIOLATIONS
(CLASS I,CLASS II,or MINOR-Notice to Comply)
Item# Remarks
106 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to train employees on waste handling and emergency procedures.
OBSERVATION: At the time of inspection, it could not be demonstrated(not necessarily documented)that
employees who handle hazardous waste were properly trained, based on the following observations:
1.When asked how the facility manages material, such as absorbent, used to clean-up a hazardous chemical spill,
except for a used oil spill, in the facility, Cassie Croy, the store manager, stated the used spill clean-up material is
placed inside the 55-gallon drum storing absorbent, which is located next to the used metal oil filter drum. However,
the 55-gallon drum storing absorbent is labeled as"Absorbent Containing Used Oil Only."Cassie did not know how
to properly manage absorbent containing a hazardous chemical other than used oil.
REGULATION GUIDANCE: The business owner must ensure that all employees are thoroughly familiar with proper
waste handling and emergency procedures, relevant to their responsibilities during normal facility operations and
emergencies.
CORRECTIVE ACTION: The violation was corrected during the inspection on 7/27/2020 by Cassie Croy, the store
manager, who provided proof of manager re-training on AutoZone's environmental hazardous waste"Bucket
Program,"since according to Cassie, only managers verify and place hazardous waste into the proper
buckets/containers in the Bucket Program. No further action is required to correct this violation.
This is a Class II violation.
FA0021924 PRO537978 SCO01 07/16/2020
EHD 22-01 Rev.9/20/2019 Page 4 of 7 Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator OIR
1868 E.
