r7Bycreasing the buffering capacity of the septic tank, this will allow the effluent receiving soilsnage small, low flows from sink usage, hand/dishwashing, etc. But more importantly, the
buffering of large inflows such as toilet, shower/bath, and laundry will occur. This increase
buffering capacity will allow the small porosity receiving soils to manage the effluent and prevent
saturated flows. This buffering phenomenon is described in a paper by Nicolas Forquet and
Matthieu Dufresne; Simple Deterministic Model of the Hydraulic Buffer Effect in Septic Tanks
in which they state: "Under [typical household water usage] testing shows that the septic tank
may help ensure a better spreading of the hydraulic load over the day."
Section 7.1.3. Calculations are presented in the Conclusions Section"showing the ability of the
effluent to meet discharge standards as set by the EHD." By buffering the effluent flows as
referenced,the soil will accept a 0.1 gals/sf/day acceptance rate.
Section 7.1.4. The sources of data for my justifications are referenced above, and in my Report
that pertains to both the primary and replacement disposal areas.
Section 7.1.5. The shallow percolation tests were conducted by Live Oak Geo Environmental.
The perc rates can be written on the plans. The expansion area equal in size to the original
primary disposal area is noted on the plans.
In summary, by increasing the septic tank size 33%,thus increasing the buffering capacity of the
tank 33% but keeping the projected low flow volumes emanating from the two bedroom
manufactured homes, will facilitate the effluent receiving soils to manage the flow volumes. As
a reminder to the septic system contractor, the perforated drain pipe shall be laid level within the
leachline trenches with the tight line from the ends of the drain pipe elevated four inches to
connect with the seepage pit perforated pipe.
Respectfully submitted,
Qiofessio
CHESNEY CONSULTING yoD Cbe 00
OG No.75A79
Don Chesney,PE
Registered Civil Engin er#C75479 `rfa Civil +
fe Of Cali4o4
i
I
Chesney Consulting
