v J
Onsite Hazardous Waste
Treatment Facility Permit
FTU Operation Specification
Facility ID: CA0000950653
Facility: Advanced Metal Plating
4421 Giannecchini Lane
Stockton, CA 95206
Description of how FTU operates:
Two fixed treatment units are employed to treat the waste. The first FTU is a chemical
precipitation system. This unit is a compartmentized skid-mounted unit with chambers for
havalent chromium reduction followed by pH adjustment and chemical precipitation. The
dissolved heavy metals (copper, nickel, chromium, and zinc) are precipitated with magnesium
hydroxide and then coagulated by use of a polymer. The solids are then settled in a clarifier and
the clear overflow is sent to a polishing ion exchange resin before discharge to the sewer. The
remaining solids are filtered in a press. The dried solids are shipped offsite for disposal.
Spent concentrates are treated by evaporation. The solutions are placed in an atmospheric
evaporator where water is removed. The solution is sprayed onto evaporative panels to humidify
the blower air that is forced through these panels. The humid air is then ducted to the
atmosphere.
Data sheets on both units are attached.
