PART ONE - INTRODUCTION
SECTION 1 - GENERAL INFORMATION
1 . 1 Source of Waste The wastewaters to be treated by this.
system are generated by the Tin Platting
and Solder Coating Lines . There are two
general types of waste streams . The
first may be described as dragout rinse
waters . These are generated from
different rinse stations following
process steps . They will normally
contain some concentration of the
process bath which is immediately
proceeding . The second type of waste
stream is composed of the various acidic
process baths. These are either
depleted or contaminated to a point
where they must be replaced. They are
then drained to the treatment system.
1 . 2 Function of System The waste treatment system is designed
to neutralize corrosive wastewaters and
to remove heavy metals from the Tin
Platting and Solder Coating Lines. The
process starts when the waste acids and
dragout rinse waters are drained to
collection lines which are routed to the
waste collection tank. The wastewaters
are then pumped through the treatment
system where the pH is adjusted and
metals are separated from solution prior
to discharge under permit to the -City of
Manteca' s treatment system.
