5. California Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Justice Small <br />Grants Program. <br />DEFENDANTS shall provide the amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) <br />payable to the California Environmental Protection Agency (with a subject line notation: <br />Environmental Justice Small Grants Program) for the funding of projects or programs, <br />consistent with the Environmental Justice Small Grant Program criteria set forth in Public <br />Resources Code section 71116, that will do any of the following in California: Resolve <br />problems associated with hazardous waste or hazardous materials contamination in <br />environmental justice communities, including through distribution of information about the <br />risks and regulation of hazardous waste or hazardous materials in environmental justice <br />communities; improve communication and coordination among agencies that regulate <br />hazardous waste or hazardous materials and residents of environmental justice <br />communities; expand the understanding of residents of environmental justice communities <br />about hazardous waste or hazardous material issues; evaluate information about the risks <br />associated with hazardous waste or hazardous material exposure in environmental justice <br />communities; promote environmental justice community involvement in decision making <br />regarding the regulation of hazardous wastes or hazardous materials, restoration of <br />resources contaminated by releases of hazardous wastes or hazardous materials, or the <br />enforcement of hazardous waste or hazardous materials laws. <br />* If the payment provided by DEFENDANTS, is accepted by a designated entity, the <br />designated entity shall provide, until the exhaustion of the funds, annual letter reports <br />describing the specific use of the funds.
