i <br /> ' 10 INTRODUCTION <br /> ' On behalf of Rinehart Distributing, Inc , Ramage Environmental has prepared this Groundwater <br /> Monitoring Report Third Quarter 2001 for submittal to San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) and to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality <br /> Control Board (RWQCB) <br /> The proposed scope of work was outlined in Ramage Environmental's Work Plan, Wel! <br /> Installations and CPT Bonngs, dated May 5, 2000 On June 15, 2000, PHS/EHD approved the <br /> ' work plan with comments <br /> 1 1 Site Location and Description <br /> The southern portion of the subject site is a gasoline service station located at 1001 E Yosemite <br /> ' Avenue in the city of Manteca (San Joaquin County), California (Figure 1) The northern portion <br /> of the site is undeveloped raw land The service station is currently operational as a Beacon <br /> station with a new underground storage tank (UST) and dispensing system The former RINO <br /> service station included three 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs in a common tank excavation on the <br /> east side of the site and two dispenser islands in the south-central part of the site (Figure 2) The <br /> new USTs were installed in the old UST excavation and the new dispensers were constructed in <br /> approximately the same location as the old dispensers <br /> 12 Previous Work Summary <br /> During January 1999, Herbst Engineering, Inc removed the three former USTs, two dispenser <br /> islands, and the old canopy structure and supports On January 28, 1999, under PHSIEHD <br /> ' observation, Ramage Environmental collected six soil samples from beneath the former USTs <br /> and six soil samples from beneath the former dispensers and canopy support structures On <br /> February 23, 1999, Ramage Environmental transmitted to PHSIEHD the soil and soil stockpile <br /> sample results <br /> ' On April 1, 1999, under PHSIEHD observation, Fisch Environmental excavated approximately 100 <br /> cubic yards of soil from the vicinity of the former eastern canopy support structure and another <br /> 100 cubic yards from the vicinity of the former western canopy support structure Each of the <br /> ' excavations ultimately measured approximately 12 feet by 12 feet by 14 feet deep Once the <br /> excavation limits had been reached, Ramage Environmental collected two soil samples from each <br /> ' of the excavations Following excavation and soil sampling, the excavations were backfilled with <br /> 3 <br /> 1 <br />
