Following the groundwater level measurements, each of the wells was purged and sampled The
wells were purged using a decontaminated bailer until at least three well casing volumes were
extracted and/or after groundwater temperature, pH and electrical conductivity values had
stabilized Following well purging and recharge, groundwater was sampled from the wells using
dedicated disposable bailers and laboratory-supplied containers Each sample was labeled,
packaged in an iced cooler and transported with chain-of-custody documentation to Kiff for
analysis Kiff analyzed each of the groundwater samples for TPH-as-gasoline, BTEX, MTBE,
DIPE, ETRE, TAME, TBA, and 1,2-DCA by EPA Method 8260B
' Waste soil generated during the drilling operations was stockpiled on plastic sheeting pending
profiling and proper disposition Waste liquid from equipment decontamination and well purging
was contained in 55-gallon drums The drums were labeled and are currently stored on-site
pending wastewater accumulation and eventual profiling and proper disposal
24 Domestic Water Well Sampling and Analysis
To further identify domestic water wells in the site vicinity, and to determine if any domestic wells
had been impacted by gasoline hydrocarbons, Ramage Environmental completed an expanded
water well survey and collected water samples from 12 domestic water supply wells
On November 9 and 10, 2000, Ramage Environmental conducted a door-to-door water well
survey Along Raylow Avenue and Mylnar Avenue, information was obtained directly from the
residents Ramage Environmental also conducted a walking tour of the entire site vicinity to
search for additional water wells A one-page written notice was delivered to each property within
' 1,500 feet of the site, asking for any information on water wells that may be located at these
parcels Approximately 300 notices were delivered
By interviewing residents, Ramage Environmental identified a total of 56 domestic water wells
along Raylow Avenue and Mylnar Avenue, between East Yosemite Avenue to the south and North
' Street to the north A water well exists on every parcel within this area, except for the residence at
150 Mylnar Avenue Of the 56 parcels with water wells, only 12 are also connected to city water
service In general, the residents were not aware of the construction of their wells A copy of
Ramage Environmental's Water Well Survey Addendum dated November 16, 2000 is included as
Appendix E This document, previously submitted to PHS/EHD includes a map showing the
locations of identified wells, a table listing the addresses of the identified wells, and any available
water well drillers reports
• 11
