August 22, 2019
Sent via email to Elianna Florido at eflorido@sjgov.org
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Dept
1868 E. Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
Re: Family Dollar Store #31092, 2006 E. Mariposa Road, Stockton, CA 95205.
Addendum to Compliance Documentation dated May 1, 2019.
Dear Ms. Florido,
In response to your requests in the email of July 17, 2019, please see the outline below, and the
exhibits which follow, referencing existing procedures, documentation and/or actions taken:
Violation 102:Cardboard contaminated with potentially hazardous product is disposed of as
hazardous waste. The cardboard is cut up as needed to fit into hazardous waste bags, along with
any other material (e.g., plastic wrap, paper towels) that was also contaminated. It is then placed
in the appropriate tote (EXHIBIT A). Our program does not allow empty PH product containers
to be “rinsed out” – though containers such as totes are wiped out with paper towels and clean
water. The wet paper towels and resulting residue is processed as hazardous waste.
Violations 104 & 105:The Store Manager at the time of inspection (R. Garcia) is no longer with
the company. See the updated Emergency Information List (EXHIBIT B).
Violation 106:The additional ASM present at the time of inspection (A. Padilla) is no longer
with this store, however, we are following up with the new Store Manager to ensure any
additional ASMs (new hires, etc.) have received their hazardous waste training/retraining.
Training will be scheduled as needed.
Violation 303: Spill kit (EXHIBIT C).
Violations 601 & 605: The EH&S Specialist walked the store and backroom with the (previous)
Store Manager to collect and correctly process any hazardous waste found. See final manifests
for pickup on June 11, 2019 (EXHIBITS D1, D2).
FAMILY DOLLAR STORES, INC., POST OFFICE BOX 1017, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA 28201-1017 (704) 847-6961
