CLEARWATER FIELD PROTOCOLS <br /> Air Sparging Pilot Test, Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Test and <br /> Combined Air Sparging/Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Test <br /> Air Sparging Pilot Test <br /> performed b a i in air pressure to the s ar well <br /> The air spargmg test will be pe y pp y g p p ging <br /> The flow of air from the sparge well will be monitored to determine it's extent and <br /> reffect on the surrounding formation and ground water The test will be performed <br /> at different levels of applied air pressure The applied air pressure will be changed <br /> when the pressure influence in surrounding wells stabilizes The initial applied air <br /> ' pressure will be 10 psig The applied air pressure will not exceed 45 psig, the PVC <br /> pressure limit The injected air pressure will not exceed 45 psi to provide a safety <br /> factor to prevent rupture of the well screen, and the flowrate will not exceed 60 1 <br /> Air pressure will be applied to the spargmg well using a towable, engine-driven air <br /> compressor The compressed air will be filtered to remove any water, particles, and <br /> compressor oil All above ground air pressurized piping will be metal or hose <br /> suitable to the application No plastic pipe will be used <br /> Prior to beginning the test, the following measurements will be made at the <br /> surrounding observation wells <br /> + Depth to water will be measured � to the nearest '0 01 foot with a 5olinst , <br /> electronic interface probe,,or equivalent <br /> ' Dissolved oxygen (DO) content of the well water will be measured <br /> • Hydrocarbon concentration in the air just above the water I level , in the <br /> observation wells will be measured with a flame ionization detector or a photo- <br /> ionization detector 11 1 I <br /> The test will be run in steps, each step at a different injected air pressure During <br /> each step, the following parameters will be measured to monitor the surrounding <br /> (formation,and determine when flow through the formation has stabilized 1 <br /> ,I <br /> I I I • The "induced pressure on the surrounding wells will be measured by <br /> I , I Magnehelic® gauges in inches of water 1„ <br /> oil1�1l � �1 ',ili 4431 <br /> The 'injected air flowratell will''be i,meau <br /> sred''with 'a,'IKurz®,Model 1443 1 thermal <br /> anemometer, or 1 equivalent <br /> CE 1 i <br /> LEARWATER GROUP,INC <br /> r <br /> I,�If k11i 1' ISI�EiY I �IE � <br /> q; <br /> i'lu�I� � I i I 11 1 ,la�,l t� Lily <br />
