Why did only the management and core team at each store receive the re-training? Are the responsibilities
related to hazardous waste management/procedures different between the management/core team and the
rest of the store employees? If so, please specify the hazardous waste management responsibilities for each job
title. All employees had just recently completed their annual retraining. The management and core team
received additional training as their involvement is more in-depth. A typical employee is trained in recognizing
potentially hazardous waste to prevent it from being improperly discarded and how to properly clean spills.
Determining the waste type and segregation is only done by Management or those with “scrap” training, they
have more specialized training in using product labels, sds, etc. to determine hazardous waste classification.

2. You mentioned that if the scanner does not provide the haz code for an item, employees must use the product
label and description, examples poster, and/or the SDS to make a waste determination for an item. If employees
are still unsure of which haz waste tote an item should be placed into, is there a phone number employees can
call to receive assistance in making the waste determination? If so, who do employees call? There is s a number
800-815-3770 manned by stericycle one of our vendors. Employees may also contact their district manager,
regional field trainer or asset protection manager for further assistance and resources.
