Jan 25 1,5 04:26p Dietz Engineering 12098338413 p.2
DIETZ ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION, INC.
Serving Commercial and industrial Clients
CA Lic.#638281
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Attn: Ted Tasiopoulos
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Subject: Carmelo Business Park Septic System Sampling for 2014
Dear Mr. Tasiopoulos:
Sampling of the MicroSepTec System installed.at Carmelo Business Park in December of 2014
consisted of the following tests:
• Nitrate as NO3
• Nitrite as N
• Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
• Total Suspended Solids(TSS)
• pH
• Ammonia as Nitrogen
The reason these tests were selected is because the MicroSepTec System is designed to reduce
the Nitrate loading of the soil. Since the water effluent from this treatment system is discharged
through filter beds to the sub surface soil. The tests not run are:
• TN-Total Nitrogen
• TKN-Organic Nitrogen and Ammonia
• BOD- Biological Oxygen Demand
• CBOD-Carbon Biological Oxygen Demand
These tests are important for sewer treatment plant discharges to surface water of the US. The
TN and TKN are important to determine the Nitrogen loading for aquatic plant growth. The
BOD and CBOD are important in surface water to prevent the consumption of Oxygen which
would injure fish and other organisms.
The test results from the samples taken of the effluent of the MicroSepTec on December 30,
2014 are attached. The calculation for Nitrogen as Nitrate is as follows:
Take 14162 x 127+28 mg/L
This number is higher than the system design of 10 mg'L and the cause will be investigated
during the next routine inspection in February 2015. Possible causes are as follows:
33233 S. Koster Road * Tracy, CA 95304-9142 • (209) 832-2910 9 Fax(209)833-1288
