System Design Description Page 4
as possible. In normal operation this keeps sludge build up to a minimum by helping to
break up and dissolve the solids, making the nutrients available for the microorganisms.
The clarified water leaves the treatment system through an effluent filter and passes into
the final Effluent Storage compartment. The effluent is now ready for sub-surface
discharge.
The EnviroServer System is controlled by a custom computer control system. The
computer is capable of detecting failures of electrical and mechanical components critical
to the treatment processes and delivering signals both remotely via a modem connection
and locally with a visual and audible alarm.
Detailed specifications are included in the MicroSeptec Installation, Operation,
Maintenance, Trouble shooting and Repair Manual which is attached.
Totalizing Flow Meters
A totalizing flowmeter will be installed on the discharge of the MicroSeptec unit. The
unit is a Sensus Model DN50W which is a displacement type magnetic drive with a
register and a remote meter display unit mounted next to the EnvrioServer control panel.
See the attached catalogue sheets.
Filter Bed
The filter bed area of 3000 sq. feet(50' x 60')will be used to accept the effluent from the
*. MicroSeptec unit. The filter bed will be approximately 30 inches deep. Washed drain
rock(I to 2 inches diameter)will be placed in the bottom of the filter bed to 1 foot above
the bottom. One and a half inch PVC piping will be placed in the filter bed, the space
,. between piping will be 7 feet. Piping will be connected in a loop configuration.
Cleanouts will be provided for each line. The piping will have forty%inch holes drilled
in the top of the piping approximately 6 feet apart. Each orifice will be covered with an
orifice shield, Orenco#OS 150. A test conducted with water prior to placing the orifice
shields will demonstrate an effluent velocity head of 3 — 5 feet. An inspection box will
be provided to measure the liquid level and sample the soil in the fitter bed. The piping
i. will be covered by a minimum of 4 inches of rock, which will make the total thickness of
rock in the filter bed of 18 inches. The rock will be covered by filter fabric, which will
permit moisture to escape from the filter bed and prevent infiltration of soil from the
. surface and prevent penetration of roots from shallow rooted plants. The soil will be 6 to
12 inches thick over the filter bed. Fencing or barriers will be provided to prevent
vehicular traffic on the filter bed area. A copy of the specification for the filter fabric is
attached.
