.r Mr_Jadi Singh
January 24,2003
Job Number: LE02-481
Page 3
+r
3.0 SITE CONDITIONS
The site is presently an open field with several trees and short grass. One idle water well and
power pole drop line exists. Some areas show signs of previous use such as concrete foundations
and brick fragments partially buried in the soil. The site is fairly flat and borders residential
property to the north and west. Thornton road borders the eastern boundary and Walnut Grove
Road borders the south.
We understand from Mike Smith Engineering, Inc. of Lodi, that the property dimensions are
approximately 200 feet by 425 feet. The size of the property is about 2 acres. The ground
+ elevation of the site ranges approximately between 8.5 to 9.1 feet according to a preliminary
ground-elevation survey conduced by Mike Smith Engineering, Inc. We understand that the
grade slopes gently to the north. The average elevation of the north %2 of the site is
approximately 8.9 feet. The site is approximately 1 foot below the flood elumtigakLibea.
3.1 File Review
. A file review was conducted at the office of San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department(EHD)on December 16'and 181. According the records, the site had contained a
gasoline station, an underground storage tank(UST) and several buildings which operated from
about 1946 to 1975 (Fluor Daniel GTI, 1998).
The file review revealed that the UST's were removed from the subject property on June 2, 1993.
;• The Notification of Hazardous Waste Discharge states that"review of soil results from tank
removal indicate soil contamination." A site map was obtained with the locations of"former
USTs (1956-1975),""UST pit(1947-1975),""former dispenser island (1955-1975),"and
'-' "former dispenser island(1947-1958)"indicated.
The Worksheet for Site Closure obtained through EHD, dated July 6, 1993, lists the number of
tanks at the facility as two and the depth to ground water at the site as 40 feet (1986 reference
year). Minimum depth to ground water from the soil sample taken was listed as less than five
feet, and total petroleum hydrocarbons were detected at 2,300 ppm.
The Leaking Underground Fuel Storage Tank form obtained through EHD and dated May 7,
1998, lists two former 1,000-gallon underground gasoline tanks on the subject property.
According to the form, these tanks were removed on June 2, 1993. The form lists the highest
aOEA?D
• 4
M
Y
 O
r
1SpG♦
