Discussion On November 22, 2002, ATC Associates,Incorporated(ATC)personnel gauged 8 groundwater monitor wells(Figures I and
2) Depth to groundwater ranged between 16 51 (MW-7)to 18 11 (MW-3)feet below ground surface(bgs) The direction of groundwater
flows northwesterly with a calculated hydraulic gradient of approximately 0 002 ft/ft (Figure 2) No measurable phase-separated
hydrocarbons (PSH) were recorded during this monitoring event Groundwater elevations and contours are illustrated on Figure 2 and
groundwater monitor data is presented in Table 1
On November 22, 2002, ATC collected groundwater samples from 8 monitoring wells ATC utilized the attached sampling procedures
described in Appendix A to collect groundwater samples from MW-1, MW-2,MW-3, MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, MW-7, and MW-8 Field
logs are also included in Appendix A Groundwater samples collected were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons characterized as
gasoline(TPHg),benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene,and total xylenes(BTEX), fuel oxygenates methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE),di-isopropyl
ether(DIPS),ethyl tert-butyl ether(ETRE),tent-amyl methyl ether(TAME), and tert-butyl alcohol(TBA), ethanol,and methanol by EPA
Test Method 8260B and GC/MS Combination TPHg concentrations above the laboratory Practical Quantitation Limit (PQL) of 50
micrograms per liter (gg/L) was reported in 3 of the 8 wells sampled this quarter Benzene concentrations were reported below the
laboratory PQL ranging from 0 50 to 2 0µg/L in groundwater samples collected from all 8 wells sampled this quarter The highest TPHg
concentrations reported was reported in samples collected from MW-5 at a reported concentration of 5,400 µg/L MTBE, DIPE, ETRE,
TAME, and methanol concentrations were reported below their respective laboratory PQL in any of the 8 wells sampled during this
monitoring event TSA was reported in groundwater samples collected from MW-1, MW-2, MW-3,and MW-6 at concentrations of 11,
I 10, 24, and 19 lig/L, respectively Ethanol was reported in samples collected from one well (MW-6) at a reported concentration of 3 0
µg/L TPHg,benzene, and MTBE concentrations are illustrated on Figure 2 and historic groundwater analytical results are presented in
Table I Groundwater analytical results for fuel oxygenate and additives are presented in Table 2 Hydrographs of groundwater elevations
and analytical data are attached in Appendix B and complete laboratory analytical results and chain-of-custody documentation are attached
in Appendix C
Recommendations Continue quarterly groundwater monitoring, sampling, and reporting Remove methanol from the quarterly
groundwater analytical scheme since results remain below the laboratory PQL
