I
location are provided in Appendix E.
All soil samples were inspected for any visual and physical
' indication of potential contamination (i.e. , discoloration, odor,
etc. ) and were screened for volatile hydrocarbons using a CGI
calibrated to hexane. At a minimum, the soil sample exhibiting
' the highest instrumental reading and/or located near the
capillary fringe from each boring was submitted for laboratory
analysis.
Those soil samples selected for possible chemical analysis were
retained in the brass tubes, labeled, covered with teflon liner,
capped with plastic end caps, sealed with duct tape, and placed
on ice. Selected soil samples were delivered to Applied P & Ch
Laboratory (State of California DHS licensed laboratory) for
chemical analyses.
' All borehole cuttings generated during drilling operations were
stockpiled on site for temporary storage. The cuttings were
placed on asphalt pavement and covered with plastic sheeting.
TPE' s protocols relative to hollow--stem auger drilling and soil
sampling procedures and waste handling and decontamination
procedures are included as Appendices B, C and D.
3 . 2 . 3 Chemical Analytical Results
Each borehole soil sample submitted for chemical analysis was
analyzed for TPHG (EPA Method 8015) and BTEX (EPA Method 8020) .
' In addition, one sample collected from monitoring well MW-5 was
tested for total lead (EPA Method 7420) . Certified laboratory
analytical data sheets and chain-of-custody documentation is
included in Appendix F and the results of the chemical anlayses
are summarized in Table 1 .
3 . 2 . 3 . 1 Monitoring Well Boring MW-4
Chemical analyses were performed on a soil sample taken at a
depth of 21 feet below grade. TPHG and the BTEX constituents
were nondetectable for the sample tested.
3 . 2 . 3 . 2 Monitoring Well Boring MW-5 '
Soil samples submitted for chemical analyses were taken at depths'
of 16 and 21 feet below ground surface. TPHG was nondetectable
in both samples. Total BTEX concentrations were 0. 084 ppm and
0. 003 ppm, respectively. The soil sample taken at ,21 feet was
also tested for Total Lead. The; Total Lead concentration was 14 DC7
ppm' , i I ,1 I , , ; !
