S0 JOA U 1 Environmental Health Department <br /> U ; i y <br /> Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Inspection Report <br /> Facility Name: Facility Address: Date: <br /> Homegoods 0344 5416 Pacific Ave, Stockton July 31, 2020 <br /> SUMMARY OF VIOLATIONS <br /> (CLASS I,CLASS II,or MINOR-Notice to Comply) <br /> Item# Remarks <br /> 106 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to train employees on waste handling and emergency procedures. <br /> OBSERVATION: At the time of inspection, it could not be demonstrated (not necessarily documented)that <br /> employees who handle hazardous waste were properly trained, based on the following observations/violations: <br /> 1.An empty bottle of Bar Keepers Friend Granite&Stone Cleaner&Polish was observed inside the Corrosive <br /> Bases Hazardous Waste container.When Veronica Mann,the store manager,was asked what happened to the <br /> cleaner that was once contained in the bottle, she didn't know. When Veronica was asked how hazardous chemical <br /> spills are cleaned up and managed, she stated the chemical container is placed in a bag and then into a hazardous <br /> waste container, and Magic Monkey(absorbent)is used to absorb the spill and is then placed into the trash <br /> compactor. <br /> 2. When Veronica was asked why containers of pizza sauce, Jordan's Skinny Syrups, and Coca-Cola and Sprite <br /> soda were being stored in hazardous waste containers, she stated because liquids are not allowed to go into the <br /> trash compactor. <br /> 3. Dog shampoo was found in the Corrosive Bases, Toxics, and Aerosols&Flammable Liquids hazardous waste <br /> containers, although shampoo is listed as an example only on the Toxic hazardous waste container label. <br /> Body wash and hand soaps were found in the Toxics and Aerosols& Flammable Liquids hazardous waste <br /> containers, although liquid soaps is listed as an example only on the Aerosols& Flammable Liquids hazardous <br /> waste container label. <br /> Also, it is unknown why shampoo is an example of Toxic hazardous waste,while liquid soap is an example of <br /> Aerosols&Flammable Liquids hazardous waste. <br /> 4.Various wax scented candles were found in the Corrosive Bases and Aerosols& Flammable Liquids hazardous <br /> waste containers.When asked which hazardous waste property wax scented candles belong to,Veronica did not <br /> know. <br /> 5. See violation 605. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE: The business owner must ensure that all employees are thoroughly familiar with proper <br /> waste handling and emergency procedures, relevant to their responsibilities during normal facility operations and <br /> emergencies. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately train the employees.
