Mr Harlan Knoll, RENS 6 July 24, 1992
with a future aquifer test to provide design data for any required remediation system.
All extracted water will be placed in 55-gallon drums for temporary storage on-site.
If the completed wells are dry, the wells will be vapor extraction tested rather than
developed and sampled. A portable vacuum extraction system that is capable of
producing six inches of mercury in vacuum will be used for testing. This unit will be
transported to each site on the back of a flatbed pickup truck along with a generator
capable of producing three-phase power. Each well to be tested will have been
completed with a threaded end at the surface to facilitate connections to the vacuum
PUMP-
Because the vacuum test is of short duration an operation permit is not required,
however a letter describing the setup and operation will be sent to the local air board.
Portable carbon vessels will be used to treat extracted soil vapors as required by the
local air board. Any carbon used will be disposed of properly.
' The vacuum extracting system will be attached to each dry well and will operate until
a minimum of three well volumes of soil vapor are have been withdrawn. During
vapor extraction testing, fluctuations in gasoline vapor concentrations as determined
using a PID/ or portable gas chromatograph (GC) will be recorded as will vacuum
pressure responses in adjacent wells. If the portable GC is not used a final vapor
sample from each vapor extraction well will be taken using Tedlar bags, or equivalent,
and analyzed for TPH-G and BTEX by a laboratory
' Following completion of Phase II activities, a Site Assessment Report will be prepared
to summarize data collected during the site assessment activities
If you have any questions concerning the proposed scope of work presented in this
Site Assessment Work Plan, please contact Gina Morrison or myself at (514)463-
9117.
' Very truly yours,
Chris Young, P E
Project Engineer
CY/pm
cc A Duarte, Time Oil Co.
G.
