SECTION 5
DECONTAMINATION PLAN
5.1 SITE CONTROL
The objective of site control will be to 1) prevent the spread of potential contamination
to clean areas of the site, and 2) to protect site personnel and the public from contact with
potential site hazards. The immediate work area where contact with site hazards, as
previously discussed, shall be deemed the exclusion area. Access to the exclusion area will
be limited.to only those individuals who:
• Are authorized to be on site by SEACOR;
• Possess the required health and safety training certifications and necessary
documentation of medical monitoring; and
• Are properly protected against the anticipated site hazards.
Every effort will be made to physically demarcate the exclusion area using banner tape,
barricades, or signs. The exclusion area should be large enough to ensure protection of
persons outside the area. The SHSO will be responsible for keeping unauthorized persons
from entering the exclusion area
All locations outside the exclusion area will be considered the clean area. This area will
serve as the support location for site activities.
5.2 PERSONAL DECONTAMINATION
Personnel decontamination associated with Level D operations will involve the removal of
gross materials within the exclusion area. If additional material remains on boots, then
boots will be scrubbed to remove materials prior to leaving the site and/or entering
vehicles. When disposable gloves are used, they also will be decontaminated prior to
leaving the exclusion area In addition, hands and face will be washed prior to eating,
drinking, smoking, or prior to leaving the site.
When personal protective equipment (PPE) is used in Level C operations, gross
decontamination will be performed within the exclusion area Personnel will then move to
the clean area to remove disposable garments. PPE removal will proceed in the following
order
1. Outer gloves
2. Boot covers
3. Disposable coveralls
• 4 Respirator
5 Inner gloves
Rev 4/()3 5- 1 corp-h&slblankust h&s
