UST Closure Report <br /> ABF Freight System,Inc <br /> Manteca,California Page 8 <br /> 8.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> 8.1 Conclusions <br /> One 10,000-gallon UST and associated piping were removed from the ABF Freight Systems, <br /> Inc facility at Manteca, California The UST was found to contain pitting and Ieakage Diesel <br /> fuel contamination was found in samples collected from the stockpiled soils and from the <br /> groundwater Because the soils analyzed from the excavation pit did contain detectable amounts <br /> of petroleum hydrocarbons and since there was evidence of soil staining and odors below the <br /> tank, it appears that there may have been some minor leakage of diesel fuel into the environment <br /> Based on these results, an "Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized Release <br /> (Leak)/Contaminated Site Report"was filed by San Joaquin County pursuant to Section 25295 of <br /> the Health and Safety Code (HSC) A copy of the report is included in Appendix 8 The <br /> appropriate disclosure of a hazardous waste discharge pursuant to Section 25180 7 of the HSC <br /> has been made, and the site has been placed on the list of contaminated sites in San Joaquin <br /> County <br /> 8.2 Recommendations <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division has reviewed the <br /> • analytical results of the soil and groundwater samples collected beneath the UST Based on the <br /> levels of contaminants present in the samples collected, further investigation to determine the <br /> vertical and horizontal extent of soil and groundwater contamination is required <br /> • <br /> N 1PROJECTSQ2721P1ans and Reports\UST Closure Report doc <br /> May 22,1998 <br />
