UST Closure Report <br /> ABF Freight System,Inc <br /> Manteca,California Page 2 <br /> . are contained in Appendix 5 Appendix 6 contains the soil waste manifests The permits <br /> obtained during the project are contained in Appendix 7, and the Underground Storage Tank <br /> Unauthorized Release (Leak)/Contammated Site Report is contained in Appendix 8 <br /> 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND <br /> ABF Freight Systems, Inc is located north of Highway 120 at 2427 West Yosemite Avenue, <br /> Manteca, California (Figure 1) The facility is on the north side of the street The facility <br /> consists of an office building and freight terminal Parking is located on the west, north and east <br /> sides of the building (Figure 2) Landscaping is located to the south of the building Access to <br /> the facility is via a concrete driveway on the east side of the building <br /> A diesel fuel dispenser and island was located directly east of the building and centered at the <br /> end of the driveway A scale was located several feet southeast of the island The 10,000-gallon <br /> UST was located several feet southwest of the island The UST was approximately 28 feet long <br /> and 8 feet in diameter <br /> A 6,000-gallon UST containing gasoline was removed from the site in 1986 The vent pipe was <br /> left in place According to the County of San Joaquin no soil or groundwater contamination was <br /> found during this removal <br /> 3.0 FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> • 3.1 Introduction <br /> This section presents a description of the field activities conducted at the ABF Freight System, <br /> Inc facility in conjunction with the UST removal The field activities were conducted during the <br /> period of March 16 through 20, 1998 In general, the field activities consisted of the following <br /> tasks <br /> • Remove, transport and dispose of diesel fuel, <br /> • Excavate UST site, <br /> • Remove, transport, and dispose of UST, <br /> • Collect and analyze soil and groundwater samples for profiling purposes, <br /> • Pump contaminated water from excavation, and <br /> • Backfill and compact excavation <br /> 3-1.1 Personnel <br /> Personnel on site included Mr Michael Kith and Mr Robert McClellen, representatives for the <br /> County of San Joaquin, Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division, and Mr Steve <br /> Essert, Site Superintendent and Quality Control System Manager for CAL INC <br /> \1SERVERIIC-DRiVE1PROJECTS132721Pians and ReportsUlST Closure Report doe <br /> May 21,1998 <br />
