Likewise, metal shavings are disposed of in the regular garbage. Any person who generates a waste shall <br />determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop disposing the used absorbent and metal shavings in <br />the regular trash and make a hazardous waste determination for the used absorbent and metal shavings and manage <br />waste according the Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting documentation <br />explaining how this waste was managed. <br />This is a minor violation. <br /> 106 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to train employees on waste handling and emergency procedures. <br />At the time of inspection, it could not be demonstrated (not necessarily documented) that employees who handle <br />hazardous waste were properly trained. Certain facility personnel were unsure about proper waste management <br />when quizzed. The generator must ensure that all employees who handle hazardous waste are thoroughly familiar <br />with proper waste handling and emergency procedures. Provide proof of training to the EHD for employees whose <br />responsibilities include hazardous waste. <br />This is a minor violation. <br /> 301 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br />Significant accumulation of oil was observed in the spill pallets storing containers of used oil and oil product. Facilities <br />shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous waste to air, <br />soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately remove oil in the spill <br />pallets and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting <br />documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br />This is a minor violation. <br /> 505 CCR 66262.34(f) Failed to completely label stationary hazardous waste tanks. <br />The used oil tank in the oil storage area was observed without a label. All hazardous waste tanks shall be marked with <br />the words “Hazardous Waste” and the accumulation start date. Immediately ensure that all hazardous waste tanks <br />are marked with the required information. <br />This is a minor violation. <br />Overall Inspection Comments: <br />Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification form to the EHD with a statement <br />documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation, and any supporting <br />paperwork, by September 6, 2019 . <br />Starting September 1, 2018, all in-office CERS help will be provided at EHD hourly rate ($152).
