EPSON TM-T88IV <br />3/09 EPSON TM-T88IV - 3 <br />Loading Paper <br />1. Be sure printer is not receiving data. Press the button, as <br />shown on the left below, to open the cover. <br />2. Remove any used paper roll core. Insert paper roll as shown <br />on the right below. The correct direction is shown in the <br />center below. <br />3. Pull out a small amount of paper, as shown below. Then <br />close the cover and tear off the extra paper by pulling it <br />toward the front of the printer. <br />Testing the Printer <br />Follow these steps to run a self-test on the paper roll: <br />1. Be sure the printer is off and the printer cover closed <br />properly. <br />2. Hold down the FEED button, and turn on the printer, <br />using the switch on the front of the printer. <br />3. The self-test prints printer settings and then prints the <br />following, cuts the paper, and pauses. (The PAPER OUT <br />light flashes.) <br />If you want to continue SELF-TEST printing, <br />Please press the PAPER FEED button. <br />4. Press FEED to continue printing. The printer prints a <br />pattern using the built-in character set. <br />5. The self-test automatically ends and cuts the paper after <br />printing “*** completed ***.” The printer is ready to <br />receive data as soon as it completes the self-test. <br />Note:To pause the self-test manually, press the FEED button. Press <br />FEED again to continue the self-test <br />Removing a Paper Jam <br /> CAUTION:Do not touch the thermal head or radiation plate, <br />because printing makes them hot. <br />Do not allow metal to touch the thermal head, because it <br />can damage the head. <br />If paper is jammed, turn the printer off. Open the paper roll <br />cover, remove the jammed paper, put the roll back in the <br />printer, and close the cover. <br />Removing an Autocutter Jam <br />1. If paper is caught in the cutter and you cannot open the <br />printer cover, open the cutter cover as shown on the left <br />below. <br />2. Turn the knob until you see a triangle in the opening, as <br />shown on the right below. This returns the cutter blade to <br />the normal position. See the label near the cutter for help.
