GLASS
'S I
LIFE
17.2.10 Effluents into Navigable Waters — §112.8(c)(9)
The stormwater ponds located at the Facility are inspected on a monthly basis for indications of a
release. The Site is graded to prevent discharged oil from leaving the Site and reaching navigable
waters or adjoining shorelines.
17.2.11 Correction of Tank Deficiencies — §112.8(c)(10)
If, by regular inspections or otherwise, it is determined that the integrity of a tank or auxiliary
equipment is or may have been compromised, it will be reported to the Environmental Specialist
and the problem evaluated and appropriate steps taken to correct deficiencies. It may be
appropriate to take the system out of service (i.e. the material transferred out of the tank or piping).
Any accumulation of oil within a diked area will be promptly removed.
17.2.12 Mobile/Portable Oil Storage Tank— §112.8(c)(11)
The drums and totes at this Facility are located within buildings or containment areas. A release
from one or more of these containers would be quickly cleaned up. A catastrophic release from
several of these containers would flow to the oil/water sump located on the ground level of the
furnace building or to a sump located northeast of the furnace building. The number of drums is
subject to change with operational needs.
17.3 Transfer Operations & In-Plant Process — §112.8(d)
17.3.1 Buried Piping Installations — §112.8(d)(1)
There are no buried pipes at the facility that contain/handle oils. The following below grade transfer
conduits are in place at the facility, but do not meet the buried pipe definition since they are for the
wastewater treatment system: concrete lined, as well as brick and mortar lined open trenches that
lead to the oil/water sump.
17.3.2 Out of Service Piping — §112.8(d)(2)
Under normal operations, out of service piping will be removed. If the out of service piping is not
removed, it will be emptied, capped or blank flanged, and marked with the words 'but of service"
and marked to its origin.
17.3.3 Piping Support Design — §112.8(d)(3)
The Site has no oil service piping that requires supports.
17.3.4 Inspection of Valves and Piping — §112.8(d)(4)
Oil valves, fittings, and aboveground pipelines directly associated with the tanks are routinely
inspected and are monitored during product transfers. Formal inspections are conducted monthly.
17.3.5 Aboveground Piping — §112.8(d)(5)
There are no endangered piping, valves, equipment, etc., in the high traffic areas.
GHD I Spill Prevention,Control, and Countermeasure(SPCC)Plan 1 085405 1 Page 27
