Briggs Ave, Lathrop
APN 193-330-37, SR0082357
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated July 7, 2020 and submitted July 22, 2020 for the above noted location and has
the following comments for your consideration.
1. The SSNL study was prepared for the expansion of existing home to three-bedrooms and construction
of a new five bedrooms home with total Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) usage of 500
gallons per day of wastewater. The 500 gallons of wastewater volume is not to be used for septic
design or size calculation.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
According to SSNL Study, the estimated long-term impact of nitrate loading from the proposed OWTS usage
is 16.4 mg/L-N; it is above the water quality objective of 10 mg/L-N.
1. The SSNL Study supports the suitability for OWTS usage with the following conditions:
a. The potential impact of the nitrate to ground water shall be mitigated. OWTS shall utilize
supplemental treatment and meet performance requirements in Section 10.9 of Regional Water
Quality Control Board OWTS policy (Boards Policy).
b. A Registered Civil Engineer shall submit complete design plan for engineer system to mitigate
nitrates to EHD for approval prior to issuance of building permit. Fee will be based on the current
fee schedule at time of payment.
c. The engineer design plan shall be in compliance with San Joaquin County (OWTS), Local Area
Management Plan and Board Policy.
d. Percolation test conducted on June 25, 2020 yield rate of 1.3 min/inch. At this rate, a minimum 20'
of soil separation is required between bottom of dispersal field and groundwater.
If you have any questions please contact Naseem Ahmed, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, at nahmed a }gev.org or (209) 468-3436.
Michael Kith, REHS
Program Coordinator
C: LiveOak
1868 E.
