Aerosol Can Recycling Machines Operations Standard Operating Procedure <br /> Created: 0620 <br /> AEROSOL CAN MACHINE OPERATIONS <br /> Operating the Aerosol Can Machine consist of the following steps: <br /> 1. Ensuring the machine is setup correctly & machine is electrically grounded <br /> 2. Donning the appropriate PPE as mentioned above. <br /> 3. Placing the aerosol can into the machine- spray nozzle in the down position. <br /> 4. Securing the can using the device on the machine. <br /> 5. Puncturing the can and allowing the paint to drain into the 55 gallon drum. <br /> 6. Cleaning up any leaks or spills of paint. <br /> 7. Placing the empty aerosol can into the scrap metal bin for recycling. <br /> Important Note: The manufacturer's instruction manual should be reviewed prior to <br /> operation. <br /> SPILLS & LEAKS <br /> • Spills and leaks of paint from the aerosol machine must be immediately cleaned up <br /> with rags, absorbents, or granular absorbent. <br /> • Used absorbents must be placed into a drum labeled "Used Absorbents". The drum <br /> must be closed at all times. <br /> WASTE DISPOSAL <br /> • Paint and solvents from the Aerosol Cans are classified as Hazardous Waste based <br /> on the EPA Ignitability characteristic. <br /> • The paint drum must be properly labeled with the "Hazardous Waste Label" and <br /> "DOT Class 3 Flammable Liquids Label". <br /> • Use this link to order labels: Ordering Hazardous & Universal Waste Disposal Labels <br /> & Signage <br /> • The drum must be disposed of using the Hazardous Waste Disposal Process Guide. <br /> • Empty Aerosol Cans are placed in the scrap metal recycling bin. <br /> Confidential: Not for use or disclosure outside Ferguson PLC or its subsidiaries,except under written agreement. <br /> Health & Safety Page 2 of 3 <br />
