=ALT.,
^o
THE WINE GROUP
August 1, 1995
Mr. Jerry Yoshioka
Public Health Services
San Joaquin County
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Dear Mr. Yoshioka:
We are formally requesting an extension to correct the deficiencies found during your
inspection at Franzia Brothers Winery.
To date,we have begun writing a formal contingency plan and should be completed within
15 days. We are scheduling training of personnel to comply with 22 CCR 264.16. We
have begun monitoring our waster from the Ion Exchange unit to determine the range of
ph from the waste stream. There is evidence that only part of the waste stream is
hazardous wise(a ph of 2 or less or 12 1/2 or greater). We have begun to gather
information on secondary containment of the drain pipe. As you know, secondary
containment of our drain pipe, as it is located, is a difficult job to engineer and appears to
be expensive.
We believe we have made significant progress to date, but we are requesting an extension
in an effort to fully comply with all codes.
Si ly,
L ROSIO
Vice President, Winery Manager
LD/mmm
The Wine Group, Inc. 17000 E.
