1
Christine Lawrence
From:Brandon Costa <brandon.costa@thewinegroup.com>
Sent:Monday, September 9, 2019 8:28 AM
To:Christine Lawrence
Cc:Terry Violett; Jennifer Azevedo; Paul Buwalda; Fernando Munoz; Joey Giordano
Subject:RE: [External] Your recent HW and HMBP inspection reports
Attachments:Used oil secondary containment 3.jpeg; SKMBT_C45219090907220.pdf
Good morning Christine,

Thank you for the follow up. Please see the answers to your questions below and I have also attached the pictures
and documents you requested on this email as well.

1) Fernando our ranch Supervisor did the triple rinsing of the 55 gallon drums. These drums were filled with
product that we use on the vineyard and were not oil or petroleum drums. The process of triple rinsing
was putting water in a 1/3 of the drum and shaking the drum back and forth for 30 seconds (this process
was completed 3 times) then was tested with pH strips to make sure the water with the product was at
7pH to make sure it was safe and neutral. A hole was made at the bottom of the drum, the drum was
initialed with the date it was rinsed as well. The rinsate was drained in the Vineyard since the product in
the drum was product that we use in the Vineyard.
2) No, the landfill did not give us a record for disposal. I called you last week asking if we needed a record
but you said as long as we put that we did not receive a record and where we took the drums for disposal
in the statement I sent over that would suffice for this correction.
3) Safety Kleen still has not picked up the 2 drums we filled but said we are on the schedule. Once they are
picked up I will send over the manifest to show they were picked up. We called them over 2 weeks ago to
get on the schedule.
4) I attached a picture of the secondary containment for the used oil and a copy of the manifest that Safety
Kleen came to pick up the used oil as well.

Thank you,

Brandon Costa
Vineyard Operations
The Wine Group
(209) 599-0502

From: Christine Lawrence <clawrence@sjgov.org>
Sent: Friday, September 6, 2019 4:31 PM
To: Brandon Costa <brandon.costa@thewinegroup.com>
Cc: Terry Violett <Terry.Violett@thewinegroup.com>; Jennifer Azevedo <Jennifer.Azevedo@thewinegroup.com>; Paul
Buwalda <paul.buwalda@thewinegroup.com>; Fernando Munoz <fernando.munoz@thewinegroup.com>; Joey
Giordano <jgiordano@thewinegroup.com>
Subject: RE: [External] Your recent HW and HMBP inspection reports
