• Assisting personnel during a facility evacuation <br /> • Knowledge and ability to direct personnel using contingency planning strategies <br /> • Communicating with department heads to verify evacuation is completed <br /> • Responding when necessary with proper Operation Shutdown procedures ( see Addendum 3 ) <br /> • Coordinating efforts when internally trained support personnel ( i . e , fire extinguisher groups, first aid/CPR <br /> groups ) respond , when appropriate <br /> All Department/ Area Managers and/or Supervisors are responsible for: <br /> • Notifying and acting appropriately in all emergency situations <br /> • Immediately notifying outside services , via 911 , when life - threatening emergency exists <br /> • Following up to report all emergencies to either the Front Desk Receptionist and/ or ERT <br /> • Developing emergency shut- down procedures for their respective departments <br /> • Recommending employees to Emergency Coordinator for emergency plan assignments ( I . e . department <br /> emergency contact ) <br /> • Ensuring that the Plan is properly reviewed with all new personnel ( including evacuation routes and assembly <br /> areas ) , and is available for employee review at all times <br /> • Assisting emergency personnel in maintaining order and calm in event of emergency <br /> o Providing for assistance to disabled or impaired employees , when necessary <br /> • Conducting ( or assigning a designee to conduct ) a head - count of all department personnel following an <br /> evacuation <br /> • Reporting names of unaccounted for personnel ( following an evacuation ) to Emergency Coordinator <br /> immediately <br /> All employees are responsible to NOTIFY and ACT in an emergency. <br /> • In the event of a life - threatening emergency , each employees must be aware of the fact that outside emergency <br /> services are the best trained and equipped to save lives . Therefore , notification and actions must be prompt and <br /> direct using a variety of communication devices . Know where the telephones are and how to contact and <br /> communicate your concerns . <br /> • Additional notifications are to be made to key personnel within the building such as , Supervisors , Managers, the <br /> Safety Manager, and/ or Front Desk Receptionist . Also, employees are expected to take appropriate actions <br /> depending on the type of Emergency . For example , if the situation requires employees to evacuate the building , <br /> each individual is responsible for identifying the best means of progress ( pathway to an exit ) and responding by <br /> promptly walking towards and exiting the building immediately . <br /> SECTION III Emergency Procedures <br /> IN THE CASE OF LIFE -THREATENING EMERGENCIES , ALWAYS CALL 911 FIRST <br /> • If Life -Threatening Emergency occurs , first contact is with Outside Emergency Services , and advising them of <br /> the type of emergency ( i . e . medical ( injury ) , fire/ explosion , chemical spill, workplace violence , etc . ) . <br /> • If Non - Life -Threatening Emergency occurs , first contact is with Emergency Response Team / ERT, to advise <br /> them of the type of emergency as well as the location ( within the facility ) of the incident . <br /> • General Announcement/ Evacuation Alarm ( if life -threatening , this announcement should be made to all <br /> using the overhead paging system from any internal phone ) . <br /> ® ill be tasked with assessing the circurnstances, notifying <br /> Upon notification of an emergency , ERT members w <br /> other ERT members and other personnel , and activating the general evacuation procedures . The ERT <br /> Coordinator will be deemed the main contact for which all ERT members are to report . The announcement <br /> for all personnel to evacuate can /will be made by means of multiple devices <br /> o Intercom / paging system ( auditory ) announcement will be repeated three ( 3 ) times to assure that all <br /> have heard the command . If possible , the message will be conveyed in multiple languages, as necessary <br /> o Word of mouth ( auditory and visual ) - By ERT members, supervisors, co -workers directing others to exit <br /> immediately and meet at Evacuation Assemble Areas . <br /> o Flashing lights ( visual ) If means are accessible to ERT members, a visual cuing system shall be used in <br /> excessively high noise areas to notify personnel of an evacuation .
