at that time , will there be a determination to have internal personnel attempt a containment and <br /> cleanup of such spill <br /> o Trained personnel are called to provide containment and clean up services ( using contents from the <br /> designated Spill Carts ) only when it can be determined with MSDS , the type of material that has been <br /> spilled , the means ( personnel ) and contents ( spill cleanup materials ) are adequate to extract the spill <br /> and store in appropriate container ( s ) , and it can be determined that the risk to employee health and <br /> safety would not be compromised through actions by trained personnel to provide containment and <br /> cleanup of the hazardous spill ( vs . deferring to outside emergency services ) <br /> o After spill is contained and cleaned up by trained personnel , the Facilities or Maintenance Manager will <br /> provide a follow up report to the authorized Hazardous Waste Management representative , within 24 <br /> hours of the incident, to include <br /> ® Identified material/ chemical that escaped into the work area <br /> ® Determination of the cause of the spill <br /> 0 Provide recommended corrective action to prevent recurrence <br /> W Update and track the whereabouts of spilled material/chemical until removal from <br /> the facility <br /> ® Provide a copy of manifest verifying removal of spilled material in timely manner <br /> o Optional response procedures are followed , when determined by the Emergency Coordinator <br /> ( considering the type and extent of the spill ) that any attempt by trained personnel of this the facility to <br /> contain and clean up the spill would compromise health and safety for our personnel , The procedures <br /> are to treat the spill / release as an emergency and respond ( Level 1 Awareness Level ) , as follows : <br /> ® Order a General Evacuation ( as well as Operation Shutdown procedures ) <br /> ® Notify San Jose Fire Department ( local CUPA ) of the type and extent of hazardous <br /> material spill and request immediate assistance <br /> Obtain necessary information regarding spilled material / chemical from MSDS , and <br /> provide to outside services , as needed <br /> SECTION V . Training <br /> Company Management is responsible to see that all new ( and existing ) employees are provided safety training necessary <br /> to perform their duties in a free and healthy environment . As part of that training , it will be necessary to review <br /> Ernergency Procedures outlined as part of this Plan . <br /> 0 The Emergency Coordinator ( or designee ) will see that all Emergency Response Teams rnembers are trained in <br /> their responsibilities under this plan . <br /> ® The Safety Manager will coordinate the necessary training for designated personnel on Emergency response <br /> procedures . <br /> ® The Safety Manager will contact and review the Emergency Action Plan with management as needed when <br /> major/ content changes are made to the Plan . <br /> ® Management will see that all personnel are trained on basic emergency reporting and action procedures , <br /> including evacuations . Training will include ( at a minimum ) : <br /> o Emergency contacts and notifications ( including the ERT) <br /> c Emergency equipment locations ( first aid , fire extinguishers , eye wash only ) <br /> o MSDS sheet locations ( Right - to - Know stations ) <br /> o Emergency actions ( specific to each type of emergency defined ) <br /> o Evacuation routes , outside assembly areas, reporting procedures <br /> finergencyAction Plan Page 5 of 7 <br />
