Two
previous design iterations were proposed for this project. Due to a number of factors, it has been
determined by EHD that a pressurized effluent delivery system is warranted for this project. This
document outlines a low pressure piping (LPP) system that is much more cost effective and reliable
than a high head effluent pump (HHEP) system that has small diameter laterals and orifices.
OWTS OPERATIONAL DESIGN PARAMETERS
The following describes the simplistic design to achieve a relatively high degree of equal
distribution of effluent: Beginning with the septic tank, a 1.600 gallon tank is specified to provide
additional nitrogen retention in comparison to a 1,200 gallon tank. The influent line from the
modular home will connect to the tank that is to be installed so that the top of the tank is four
inches above existing grade. This will ensure that an 8 ft separation distance is maintained
between the soil-effluent interface and the highest anticipated depth to groundwater, which is 10 ft.
Effluent will gravity flow from the septic tank that has an effluent filter at the outlet, into a pump
chamber tank. A duplex sewage pump system is to be installed in the pump chamber tank, with
the pumps connected to a Duplex Control Panel.
P.O.
