We do not know how deep the well is as we can not get anything past the stuck pump to measure it.
Dr. Well suggested we try to blast the bowls away from the column, then remove the column, then fill with concrete
from the bottom up. Dan feels that if we blast anything, the well is in such disrepair that it may actually collapse when
we remove the column, if we can remove the column.
After we talked, I went back to Dr. Well. They said that yes, we could prima cord the well without separating the bowls
and removing the column, but if when we fill the well with concrete and then blast with enough force to penetrate the
column and casing, it may well cause the equipment to drop in the well, causing the concrete to flow to the bottom of
the well, mixing with the water and making a softer seal that we are looking for.
So, there does not seem to be any full proof way to abandon this well. If you will let me know how you want me to
proceed, I will contact the owner with a quote, when they approve it, I will apply for the permit.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks
Paula
z
