The information outlined
below demonstrates our return to compliance.
25189.5 HSC Disposal of HW at an unauthorized point
Target has a procedure developed for scanning return/damaged merchandise for disposition
instruction. Once an item is scanned the system will prompt the Team Member on the proper
handling instructions. In the case of an aerosol product, the system would scan as
"environmentally sensitive" and the Team Member would know the product was not to be
compacted and required special handling. Environmentally sensitive products can be donated
to a local charity, if the product is still viable for its intended purpose. If donation is not an option,
Target will contract a licensed hauler to manifest and haul the product to a transfer/disposal
facility.
25189.5/25201(a) HSC Illegal treatment of a hazardous waste
Please find the enclosed contingency plan which describes the process for responding to a
chemical spill. Contaminated absorbent used in cleaning or containing a chemical spill is not
allowed in the compactor.
Environmental Services, 33 South Sixth Street, CC3425, Minneapolis, MN 55402
