February 8 , 1993 Y !
Mr .Richard Larrouy/Associate Planner
San Joaquin County
Committee Development Department
1810 E . Hazelton Avenue
Stockton , CA 92505-6232
Subject: Proposal of Manure Management on 30636 Carter Road
I have been in layer business for over eight years . We have six
ranches around San Joaquin and Stanislaus County which have over
six hundred thousand layers . We always kept our sanitation in good
order , never have problems with neighbors concerning flies and
odor . This is our intention to minimize any potential problem .
We are planning 4 stages after we have bought the Kleinfeld:
Phase 1: We will place approximately 125 ,000 layers in the three
high rise buildings ( House No . 17 , 18 & 19 ) . The original design
of those houses is to keep manure for one flock cycle ( e .g . two
years ) . These houses have fans under the cages so they can dry the
manure and as a result will not produce flies . If we purchase this
ranch we would clean it up a least once a year ( before summer
time ) , make sure there is no water leakage from the drinkers , and
check that the fans are functioning . If there are any indications
of larve , we will then spray to kill the flies .
f1
Phase 2: We are going to fix up house No . 1 & 2 or 13 & 14 which
can house approximately 50 ,000 layers . This is a convential type ,
of layer house . We would clean up the manure at leas once a week p`-r
( at summertime or, when the weather permits ) and -the manure in !✓""'
our open field . V%n weather does not permit , we will consider to
use the ponds for emergency use only . _ ,!
vw Gw
Phase 3: Convert house No . 6 , 7 , 9 , 10 , 11 and 12 to brooding
houses with a total capacity of 125 ,000 pullets . The house will be
bedded with wood shavings or rice hulls . This will not produce any
flies or odor problems .
Phase 4: When this ranch reaches 300 ,000 layers , then we will
consider to have a manure compost system .
I have discussed this with Dr . Syed Bokhari , Poultry Farm Adviser
of San Joaquin , Stanislaus & Merced Counties on February 3 . He
feels the above outline is the proper way to handle the manure .
Please review my proposal and if you have any questions , please
contact me .
Sincerely ,
William HuangOp TV
►L -sb PILoru E 't'craA-r.C jLlG.dr2 U .1
