It necessary, upon exit From the work site, loose debris will be removed from protective clothing by <br /> brus�I ingorrinsing. Gloves•and boots will be decontaminated in a 5 percent solution of trisodium <br /> phosphate and rinsed with water which will be disposed of on-site. Respirator cartridges , per- filters, inner <br /> gloves and cove HIs will be placed in a drum on-site for disposal . No one will exit the site with <br /> contamina ted clothing or equipment. <br /> EMERGENCY RESPQNSE <br /> If the potential exists for tire , explosion or toxic material release during on -site ataiviues , prior to <br /> commencement of any activities , personnel will have available telephone numbers and contacts For <br /> emergency response assistance including: <br /> • Ambulance '.. <br /> ® Fire Department <br /> • Hospital ' <br /> V Poison Control Center <br /> • Community Evacuation Contact '.... <br /> Emergency equipment on- site will include : <br /> • Portable eyewash bottles <br /> ® Industrial tirsr-aid kir <br /> SITE SECURITY <br /> Access during 4, 1 on -site activities will be -restricted to authorized personnel . M personnel and <br /> ;authorized visitors must conract the Safety Coordinator/Project Nfanager prior to entering and exiting the <br /> SIM <br /> RECORD KEEPIN <br /> 911 site safety records permning to the site characterization study will be maint fined by the Safery <br /> Coordinator/Project ivlanager throughout the project. <br /> AIR MONITORING <br /> The Safety Coordinator/Project iVfa.nager will conduct periodic air monitoring using direct reading <br /> sampling equipment as required . At a minimum the following monitoring will be performed : <br /> Total .Organic Vapors <br /> A direct reading photoionization detection (PID) meter (HNU PI 101 or equivalent) will be <br /> used to , monitor the concentrations of organic vapors in the work area. Measurements will be <br /> taken air least once every 15 minutes during surface and subsurface sample collection . The <br /> meter will be calibrated Cor benzene . Total organic vapor measurements will be used to <br /> determine the appropriate levels of respiratory protection and conditions for sire evacuations . <br /> Tonal organic vapor concentrations in the workers' breathing zone in excess of 10 ppm above <br /> background will trigger .tit► upgrade From level D to level C protegtion . Breathing zone <br /> concentrations in excess of 250 ppm will stop the work on-site until the work zone <br /> concentrations are reduced to below 250 ppm . <br /> EMPLOYEE TRAINING AND , INFORMATION <br /> All personnel working have completed the certified , 40-hour OSHA hazardous waste training course, <br /> ,and have been trained in the following objectives : <br /> • Workers are aware of potential hazards they may encounter. <br /> • knowledge and skills necessaary to perform the work with minimal risk to workers" health and <br /> safety . . <br /> • Runiliaarizaation with the Site Saatety Plan and site,specific requirements . <br />
