Use of gloves and disposable <br /> clothing (if necessary) will reduce skin contact. <br /> INGESTION <br /> Eating, drinking, and smoking will not be allowed within the exclusion zone. <br /> TRAFFIC HAZARDS <br /> Field activities taking place in public streets or on road shoulders shall use Caltrans approved flagging <br /> and traffic control during the duration of activities. While working in public streets with heavy traffic <br /> assume that the operator of a motor vehicle. is unable to see you and keep a safe distance from moving <br /> traffic. Keep off roadways, when practical, and away from moving traffic. Approved safety vests will be <br /> worn by all personnel when working in areas of traffic hazard. Emergency Procedures should be modified as required for the incident. <br /> Personal inila: Upon notification of an injury, the Site Safety Officer will assess the nature of <br /> the injury. If the injury is in the area of the drilling or excavating equipment, the equipment shall <br /> be shut down to eliminate running equipment hazards. Equipment will remain shut down until the <br /> Site Safety Officer authorizes work to proceed. If the cause of the injury or loss of the injured <br /> person does not affect the performance of site personnel, operations may continue. Safety related <br /> incidents shall be reported immediately to the East Bay Municipal Utility District project <br /> manager and an IR's report filed as necessary. <br /> Fire/Explosion: In the event of a fire or explosion on site, the Site Safety Officer or alternate shall <br /> call (510) 238-6957 and all personnel shall be moved to a safe distance from the involved area. <br />
