Booze,Ph.D. <br /> FRQ ✓tf/ <br /> Staff Toxicologist <br /> Human and Ecological Risk Division(HERD) <br /> DATE: May 29, 2003 <br /> SUB,YECT: Review of Preliminary Environmental Assessment Report, Lockeford Elementary <br /> School Expansion Site,Lockeford,California <br /> PCA: 14865 Site: 104292-27 <br /> Background <br /> This 2.8-acre site consists of a southern, north, and western parcel, all of which are owned by <br /> the D.H, Winn Trucking Company. The southern parcel is paved and contains a brick warehouse <br /> building from the 1800s. It also is the location for three above ground storage tanks for gear oil, <br /> motor oil, and waste oil, It is used for truck maintenance,truck washing, and administration. <br /> Previous uses have included a grain warehouse, lumber company,brick-making Company, and a <br /> rustic furniture making company, genie spills have occurred here, and a 10,000 gallon <br /> underground storage tank was removed in 1998. <br /> The remaining two parcels are unpaved and are used for parking. Their only known use has been <br /> as a railroad right of way. <br /> The preliminary Endangerment Assessment(PEA) investigation was performed, which consisted <br /> of obtaining soil and soil gas samples, along with some groundwater samples. The results from <br /> this sampling were incorporated into a screening risk assessment.
