The Report was prepared on your behalf by Arcadis.
The Report describes the remedial excavation and subsequent soil and grab
groundwater sampling for gasoline, diesel, motor oil and volatile organic compounds at
the Site. The work was completed in August 2010.
Results from the confirmation soil sampling indicate the remedial activities were
successful in removing most of the impacted soil. Any impacted soil remaining is not
capable of being removed due to high pressure gas lines. The grab groundwater
sample collected during excavation contains concentrations of diesel up to 430 ug/L.
Gasoline, motor oil and the volatile naphthalene, were below the detection limits for the
appropriate test method.
I have the following comments regarding the Report:
1. To evaluate the remedial activity's effects on groundwater quality, a minimum of
three monitoring wells need to be installed at the Site. The wells should be
sampled regularly (quarterly, semi-annually or annually) to monitor any
decreasing trends and determine when water quality objectives will be met.
2. By 30 May 2011 please provide a Work Plan to install the groundwater
monitoring wells. In the Work Plan, provide a schedule for conducting the
installations, and when a Results Report will be submitted to me.
California Environmental Protection Agency
cliRecycled Paper
