4.1.3 Well Completion and Development
When all operations are completed in the boreholes, any open hole that would
lie below the targeted well completion interval will be grouted with a volclay
grout or neat cement up to the specified depth, prior to completing the well.
The shallow monitoring well screen section will be completed in the
uppermost ten feet of the saturated material. The shallow well will be
completed as a ten foot screened interval monitoring well.
The deep boring MW-11 (deep) will be sampled on five foot intervals in the
first aquifer. It will be sampled continuously in the second aquifer, and will
terminate two feet into the second aquitard. A steel conductor casing will be
installed through the first aquifer two feet into the first aquitard (approximate
depth of 45 ft. to 55 ft.).
The shallow and deep monitoring wells will be completed with clean, two-
inch Schedule 40 PVC blank casing and well screen. All casing and screen
sections will be coupled with flush-threaded joints that are wrapped with
Teflon tape, or fitted with Viton O-rings. No lubricants or glues will be used.
Centralizers will be placed as needed. The screened section will be ten feet in
length for all new monitoring wells. The bottom of the well screen will be
capped with a slip-on-cap of the same material as the casing. Three or more
self tapping stainless steel screws through the bottom cap will hold this
bottom cap in place. A small diameter hole will be drilled through the bottom
Z:%PROP-PRn1999U 574-p'&iA11Vpi-1574-I.dx
10
