Mr. Harlin Knoll
November 16, 1998
Page 2
The third release was discovered on October 20, at 0700 Hrs. The acting
supervisor made notification to the Environmental Department at PG&E at 0720
Hrs., resulting in notification to County OES at 0740 Hrs., and to L. Briggs of
your office at 0805 Hrs. This release was estimated to be approximately 3 to 5
gallons of hydraulic oil that seeped from a leaky fitting on an oil line to the
hydraulic controller at well Whiskey Slough 4 East. Upon discovery, a crew was
dispatched to remove all the visibly impacted gravel and soil for disposal to
Forward Landfill in Lodi. This soil was stockpiled in a roll-off bin on site and is
scheduled for transport. Repairs to the hydraulic tubing were completed on
October 20, following shut in of the well.
Based on the cleanup activities summarized above, PG&E has completed the
removal of all visibly impacted soils and gravels associated with these
hydrocarbon releases and proposes no further action.
