Control of hazardous material and hazardous communication is the <br /> responsibility of the first line supervisor where the hazardous material is <br /> located. These supervisors must: <br /> 1. Store materials in such a manner as not to create a hazard <br /> 2. Ensure storage containers are in good condition <br /> 3. Store flammables and combustibles in a fire cabinet or storage room <br /> 4. Maintain a separate and, properly labeled container for each waste <br /> 5. Ensure your hazardous waste containers are marked with the following <br /> information: <br /> a. the words "Hazardous Waste" <br /> b. the accumulation start date <br /> 6. Inspect containers weekly for leak or deterioration <br /> 7. Keep containers closed during storage. Only open them to add, <br /> sample or remove waste <br /> 8. Storage containers holding incompatible waste, or incomplete <br /> materials, must be spaced at least 20 feet apart or must be separated <br /> by means dike, berm, wall, or other device. Oxygen cylinders MUST <br /> be stored away from flammable materials (such as gasoline) and <br /> combustible materials (such as oil or grease). <br /> 9, Store flammable wastes away from heat, flame, or source of ignition. <br /> 10.Ensure all DOT and Hazardous Waste Manifest paperwork is current. <br /> 14 <br />
