Suppliers have the recipe' of their product and this information can <br />Buyer Tools <br />be provided to Costco with the Supplier's MSDS for the product(s). <br />Get MSDS <br />HazMat FAQ <br />Do you have MSDS's for your product? <br />Shipping <br />The Supplier's MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) will provide the necessary information <br />for Costco to define and classify the individual items. <br />SWI instructions <br />Terminology <br />My vendor has provided me with a MSDS. Does this mean that my item is hazardous? <br />Contacts <br />A MSDS provides the hazards associated with the product and how to properly handle ani <br />ship the product once in our possession. <br />Can your product in some way become Hazardous throughout its lifecycle? <br />A product may be non -hazardous when shipped by the Supplier, but once used it could bE <br />considered a hazardous material. Examples of this are engines that use gasoline, or itemE <br />with a rechargeable battery. Some items may pose an environmental hazard without propf <br />disposal. Again, your Supplier should be able to provide a MSDS that will give the <br />necessary information. <br />If your product is Hazardous, are there packaging requirements? <br />Protecting the shipment from leaking or spilling may require more than just a standard <br />carton. The Supplier's MSDS will indicate the minimum container requirements. <br />What packing group does your product fall under? <br />Hazardous Materials have specific packaging requirements. The make up of the item will <br />dictate what these are. <br />What labels do you use when transporting? <br />If your Supplier is using labels on the shipping container and/or placarding of the truck is <br />required when they are shipping, this might indicate that a return may require similar <br />labeling, and that there may be restrictions on shipping into Costco facilities. <br />What chemicals might not be compatible with your product? <br />Certain chemicals cannot be shipped or stored next to other chemicals. Defining the make <br />up of the item will allow it to be properly classified and identified. <br />What requirements are there to make your product ORM-D? <br />Small quantities, and properly packaged items may be considered non -hazardous.
