Emergent vegetation growth (i.e. cattails, bulrush) could be encouraged for
more effective elimination of water, and possibly reduce build-up of trace metals in the soil.
Periodically, the vegetation can be harvested and either burned or transported to a landfill.
Drying Bed Conceptual Graphic ~
Corc.ovy4rtlm M l+9 e.l alµVRF COLLP
Dljba E.%aAuPwC
0 0),9Ma Cetl
c'QriV&a..V.vkwe.
"^t .SYglr Vete DrAq eeq
F,"RIbM E.rsti+p
O'V-98.& to AKS SW.WT
bym09eA Sta90 TaiA
O'"qem
M ctl
EreooreM Pone
Dy.90w
W~g Ota
ISP.150'
Earsfrq Uncarlan
Figure 1
Drying Bed Conceptual Graphic
A benefit of the drying beds that is specific to the City is elimination of the solids holding
container. Currently, after the solids are dewatered, they are stored on-site in a transportable
holding bin. The holding bin is provided to the City by the disposal transport company, at a
cost of$10,000 per year. If constructed, the drying beds will hold the solids until they are
collected and placed in a bin at the time they are to be transported.
The total capital cost of the drying beds, including other site modifications, is provided in
Table 1.
