SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Lindsey Cox to conduct
a Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study for the property located at 30611 East
Edwards Avenue, Oakdale, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study are combined under this report
cover and presented as two sections of this report. The formatting of the report has
been designed to follow the recommendations of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study were conducted to determine
whether the soils are suitable for use with a septic system, as well as to estimate if the
use of septic systems will impact ground water quality. The study was performed
according to the requirements of Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County
Development code.
Proposed Development
Ms. Cox proposes to place a two-bedroom modular home on the Site (Plate 2). A new
septic system will be installed to serve the new residence. A four-bedroom home is
already located on the Site.
Site Description
The Site is composed of Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 207-260-52, 2.1 acres in
size. The Site is located at 30611 East Edwards Avenue, Oakdale, California (Plate 1).
A four-bedroom house is currently located on the Site. A domestic well and septic
system serve the house (Plate 3).
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 145 to 150 feet above mean sea level. The Site is relatively flat
(Plate 4).
According to the San Joaquin County District Viewer (simap.org), the Site is zoned AL-
10, Limited Agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 10 acres. The San Joaquin
County Community Development Department states that this zoning designation "is
intended to recognize and preserve areas that contain existing concentrations of small-
scale agricultural operations and dwellings."
LOGE 20-31 Page 1
