Emergency Action Plans (EAP), Continued <br /> Chemical,Oil In case of battery acid spills <br /> and Battery <br /> Acid • wear the appropriate PPE <br /> • pour soda ash on the spill's edges to surround it <br /> • quickly cover the rest of the spill with the soda ash <br /> • IMPORTANT! Do not stand over the spill as it neutralizes. The chemical <br /> reaction may produce acid mist fumes. Step away. <br /> • use a broom and dustpan to scoop the remaining soda ash into a plastic bag <br /> • contact the Environmental specialist for disposal procedures at 1-(700)-777-3030, <br /> Ext.7217 <br /> In case of chemical/oil spills <br /> • wear the appropriate PPE <br /> • spread a layer of clay absorbent on the spill and work it in with a broom <br /> • use a broom and dustpan to scoop the absorbed material into a plastic bag <br /> • contact the Environmental specialist for disposal procedures at <br /> 1-(700)-777-3030,Ext. 7217 <br /> Note: For large oil or chemical spills(5 or more gallons), use clay absorbent to <br /> contain the spill. Do not allow the spill to enter a floor drain or go to the outside. If <br /> a spill occurs outside, do not allow it to enter the ground or storm drain.
