CA Retail Chemical Waste Program training was <br /> reviewed w h the Store Manager. <br /> Every CA ore Au oZoner was provided with comprehensive CA Retail Chemical Waste Program <br /> training in ovemb r 2010, shortly after the program was rolled out to all stores. A copy of the CA <br /> Retail Chen ical Waste Program Meeting is presented for your review. The training log for Store <br /> #5682 is att, ched. s this program is still fairly new,there may be occasional instances of confusion <br /> until all stor employees become familiar with the various waste stream classifications. <br /> Items 60,6 ,and 6 . Hazardous waste manifests were found without a signed off copy from the <br /> destination acility final copy)at all stores inspected. <br /> Copies of a ery missing manifest less than three years old were located and are attached for your <br /> review. <br /> Each Store anager was coached on proper manifest procedures. At the time of each service, the <br /> waste vend provid s the store with the Generator copy of a hazardous waste manifest. A Final <br /> Destination opy for each manifest is mailed to the AutoZone Store Support Center where it is <br /> photocopied The p otocopy is mailed to the CA DTSC and the Final Destination copy is mailed to <br /> the AutoZon Regional office where it is routed to the appropriate District Manager who routes to the <br /> individual st re. Th Store Manager is responsible for matching the Generator Copy and the Final <br /> Destination C opy of every hazardous waste manifest and neatly filing at the store. All copies of all <br /> manifests are retained in the store file for a period of no less than three years. <br /> Item 85. At time ol inspection, shipping records for universal wastes (aerosol cans, fluorescent <br /> bulbs,alkaline batt 'es)were not available for review. <br /> This item was noted as a violation at each store inspected. As discussed in detail below, AutoZone <br /> respectfully disagrees that there have been Universal Waste violations at its stores. <br /> Lead-Acid Batteries Nationwide, AutoZone stores recycled over 9 million lead acid batteries in <br /> 2010. EveD retail tore location collects used lead acid batteries from Do It Yourself customers. <br /> Batteries are properly accumulated, stored and transported weekly from each store to the appropriate <br /> AutoZone Distributiori Center. A Bill of Lading is completed for every battery shipment as required <br /> by DOT. A copy of every Bill of Lading is retained at the store for no less than three years. <br /> Aerosol Can —Aero of cans which are leaking or which can not be used for their intended purpose <br /> are processed througl the CA Retail Chemical Waste program at each store. Damaged aerosol cans <br /> are sealed in individ ial ziplock bags and placed in the waste bucket labeled "Flammable/Aerosol <br /> Waste." An utside azardous waste vendor (PSC) is scheduled to pick up accumulated waste from <br /> every AutoZcne store on a regular schedule (approx. every 160-179 days). PSC will provide the store <br /> with a Hazarc ous Wa to Manifest(generator copy)at the time of each service. The final copy of each <br />
