Facility Certification of Return to Compliance
Target Store T0313
3
If the pharmaceutical does meet the definition of a hazardous or medical waste, the pharmacist can not
execute the return process to GPS. Instead they are prompted to place the pharmaceutical in a satellite
waste container located in the pharmacy. Target utilizes Clean Harbors to transport and incinerate the
waste pharmaceuticals.
As discussed above,we take your inspection report very seriously and wish to work with the County to
resolve this matter. However,we also are concerned that the County's,interpretation of the applicable
rules is at odds with the State of California's interpretation and those of other agencies. We are also
concerned that these assertions of violations are for ordinary consumer products. We believe that these
products are handled in the same manner by businesses, schools, households and government agencies
without prior objection from your office or the issuance of a Notice of Violation. We therefore would
welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with you or your managers at the Department of
Environmental Health to express our concerns and to work together towards finding a consensus position
on the uniform application of these rules.
Please let me know if you would in interested in setting up a call or also feel free to contact me directly
with questions at(612)761-5045 or by email at Aaron.Anderson@Target.com.Thank you.
Sincerely,
Target Corporation
/Z
Aaron Anderson
Environmental Compliance Coordinator
at Perry
Senior Group Manager
Corporate Risk and Responsibility, 1000 Nicollet Mall,TPN-1132, Minneapolis, MN 55403
