I
CVS retail pharmacies generate hazardous waste in the ordinary course of business.
However, CVS Pharmacy has taken steps to minimize the generation of hazardous waste
at its stores. Specifically, CVS Pharmacy utilizes procedures, including sophisticated RF •
Unit technology, to assist store colleagues with accurate identification of items that must be
managed as hazardous waste and those that may be reused. As part of this process, CVS
Pharmacy works with its vendors to support re-use of retail products where possible. '
Additional information about these waste minimization measures is available through the
CVS Health EH&S Department.
The Store Manager is ultimately responsible for successful implementation of the program.
Each Front Store and Pharmacy colleague must complete at least one of the program
courses described in this Overview, depending on his or her job responsibilities. In order to
ensure that there is a Manager-On-Duty at all times with a clear understanding of program
requirements, the Store Manager must also ensure that the Front Store Management Team
is trained on the program, and completes all assigned courses. The Store Manager and his
or her management team should reference this Overview, in addition to the required
courses, as it will provide supplemental details of the program.
T'
000 CVS Pharmacy works with third-party vendors to assist with the management
of hazardous waste. Information regarding these vendors and the services
provided may be found in the "Supporting Information Section" of your EH&S
Program Binder.
rCVSflal'f71aC ' Environmental 4
pharmacyHealth & Safety
