Based on our review we noted the following:
Monitoring Well 5 (MW-5)analysis showed detections of benzene, chloroform, dichlorodiflouromethane, 1,1
dichloroethane, cis-1,2 dichloroethene, 1,2 dichloropropane,methylene chloride,PCE, trichloroflouromethane,
trichloroethene, and vinyl chloride. The County has determined that MW-5 is an impacted well. The County
will continue to use the trend analysis method quarterly to evaluate the concentrations of VOCs in MW-5.
Benzene was also detected in MW-4. The spike in chloride concentrations noted in the First Quarter appear to
have been switched with the sulfate values while the report was being generated. This value was clearly an error.
Acetone, benzene, napthalene, and 1,2,3 trichlorobenzene were detected in SB-l. The County was to reconsider
the acetone detections in this monitoring event, but there was no discussion of the continued presence in the
report. A retest of SB-1 will occur during the Third Quarter 2001 monitoring event due to the short period of
time between the County receiving the data and the next scheduled monitoring event.
Other than chloroform and methylene chloride,no other VOCs were detected in the trip and/or field blanks.
The nature of the pink coloration of the water in SB-1 is still unknown and the County is continuing to
investigate its source.
If you have any questions or comments regarding my review, please call me at(916)255-3126.
VICeRi.
